There are 2 ways to print designs onto cycling apparel; the cheaper method, digital printing and higher quality method, sublimation or screen printing. Although digital printing has dramatically improved in the past years, sublimation still yields a better result. Nalini uses both methods. For very small quantities digital printing is cost effective and when the graphic design is extremely detailed like a photograph then digital method is the only option. For larger quantities and more basic graphic designs then the screens (or cliches) are produced, laid over white fabric and then printed. Sublimation produces a garment with more vibrant colors and color tonality can be duplicated that is not possible with digital method. It is also much faster so in Nalini’s case with such a large production volume it is far more efficient. Another advantage of sublimated printing is color fastness and durability. Cheaper product looks great when new but after a few washings the color begins to fade however with sublimation the ink has fully penetrated the fibers of the fabric yielding ultimate color fastness. Your jersey will look like new even years later. This is the Nalini difference.
